Assam Black Tea from the Quality Belt Region

Sale price Price £5.95 Regular price

Ideal in the morning with milk, this tea from the Quality Belt Region in India is an excellent example - plucked during Assam's renowned second season of harvest, the second flush, with TGFOP1* leaves. It's a voluptuous tea that tastes malty and full-bodied.

Food pairing: Hearty breakfasts, sweet spiced tea cakes, carrot cakes, red meats and  strong cheese.

Fun fact: The state of Assam in India,  also known as “The land of the one-horned rhino”, started shipping tea from India to London in 1838, where its popularity immediately flourished. It remains a household favourite to this day.

Brewing instructions: 1-2 teaspoons of loose leaf or 1 pyramid bag. 3 mins at 90-95ºC without milk, 3-5mins at 95-100ºC with milk. Just turn your kettle off before boiling if you don't have a temperature controlled kettle.

Ingredients: Black Tea. Contains Caffeine.

* TGFOP1  stands for “Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe 1”… Or in other words a sign of high quality tea  made from the end bud and the first two leaves of each new shoot with a large proportion of golden tips. The 1 stands for highest quality leaves within this classification.

Until at least the end of June, £1 for every large loose leaf pack sold will be donated to Regenerate-RISE, supporting vulnerable isolated elderly including supply boxes due to Coronavirus.
